The objective in Terrace is to carefully micromanage one tableau's so that all 104 cards are sent to the foundation piles. Unlike any other game, the foundation piles are built up by alternating colors
First, 11 cards are dealt to a single, fanned reserve. Only the top card is available for play, and it may be played only onto a foundation pile.
Second, four cards are dealt to the tableau piles. The player must pick one of these cards to act as the base rank. This base card moves up to the foundation pile to start the game. Six additional cards are dealt to the tableau, with each pile containing one card
The player can build down tableau piles by alternating colors, although multiple cards may not be moved at once. Empty tableau piles must be immediately filled with the top card from the waste pile (or stock, if waste is empty). If both stock and waste are empty, then empty tableau piles may not be filled
The player may deal one card at a time from the stock to waste, with no redeals.
